AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers Applauds Law Enforcement for Recent Metal Theft Arrests

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 18, 2011 – (Las Vegas, Nev.) - Scott Stolberg, president and CEO of AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers applauded law enforcement officials today for the recent arrests in two separate cases of scrap metal theft in the Las Vegas area. Copper wire and scrap metal are commonly stolen and redeemed for the scrap value.

The Bureau of Reclamation's Hoover Dam Police Department in cooperation with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departmen manual trash compactor t arrested two individuals on July 5, 2011 for allegedly stealing copper wire from power structures. Separately, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested an individual on July 6 with a garage full of stolen goods including copper, aluminum, car parts and air conditioners.

To demonstrate its commitment to solving metal theft crimes, three years ago AAEQ invested in a point-of-purchase system called Scrap Dragon that videotapes scrap metal sales, takes scanned fingerprints and gives separate IDs to each scrap seller. After a completed transaction, sellers receive a coupon which can be redeemed at an on-premise ATM, which also captures their image.
