As he continued implementing Lean concepts, he began to realize that the Lean movement was hindered by its omission of TWI training. TWI offers fundamental skills training that helps to stabilize an organization, preparing it to seriously begin its Lean journey. In addition, it provides a foundation so that Lean principles are sustained. In order to assist in stabilizing an organization and, thus, assist in the acceptance of Lean, Don is concentrating his efforts on spreading the word of TWI. His consulting practice focuses solely on the TWI Programs. To that end, he delivers training in all three of the "J" programs and in Program Development. In keeping with the "multiplier effect" cited by the Training Within Industry Service, Don also offers Train the Trainer sessions for all four programs. MOL Raises ¥55 Million to Assist Rescue and Relief Efforts

Immediately after the earthquake, MOL donated ¥50 million as a company and then launched the fundraising drive within the group. Le moteur Scuderi améliore sensiblement les performances énergétiques d'une Nissan Sentra

, financée par Scuderi Group et réalisée par un laboratoire de recherche indépendant, de réputation internationale.  L'Étude a modélisé divers concepts de moteur Scuderi Split-Cycle (SSC™) dans un modèle de Nissan Sentra 2011.

La Sentra a été simulée via un cycle de conduite normalisé selon la procédure de tests américaine 75 (FTP-75) pour chaque concept de moteur SSC.  Les résultats préliminaires de l'Étude montrent qu'une réduction de consommation de carburant de 25 % (soit une augmentation pouvant atteindre 33 %, exprimée en miles par gallon) était réalisable avec un moteur SSC en remplacement du moteur d'origine de la Sentra, en intégrant une coupure d'alimentation de carburant en décélération et au ralenti dans le modèle.  Les résultats attestent également d'une réduction potentielle de la consommation de carburant allant jusqu'à 35 % (soit une augmentation pouvant atteindre 54 %, exprimée en miles par gallon) par rapport au modèle Nissan Sentra équipé d'un moteur de série sans coupure d'alimentation de carburant.

manual trash compactor trash bins L'objectif premier de l'Étude était de répondre à la question fondamentale : quel kilométrage le moteur Scuderi peut-il atteindre ?  Historiquement, il est difficile de répondre à cette question car la réponse est fonction du type de véhicule sur lequel le moteur est monté et du type d'itinéraire (ou du cycle de conduite).  Scuderi Group a donné pour mission au labo indépendant de concevoir et mettre en oeuvre une Étude numérique qui puisse simuler un moteur SSC sur le véhicule de son choix, conduit selon le cycle de conduite de son choix.  Les résultats devaient alors être comparés au même véhicule, équipé du moteur d'origine, pour le même cycle de conduite.  La Nissan Sentra a été le premier véhicule choisi pour l'Étude, en raison de sa faible consommation et de son succès sur le marché.

Au début de l'Étude, une modélisation de base de la Sentra a été établie, au plus près des performances mesurées sur la Nissan Sentra 2011 réelle.  Le labo a monté la Nissan Sentra sur un banc dynamométrique et soumis le véhicule à un cycle de conduite FTP-75 pour générer les données de référence.  Divers modèles de moteur SSC ont été dimensionnés pour correspondre à l'accélération et à la puissance du moteur conventionnel de la Sentra.  Chaque moteur Scuderi a alors été implanté sur la Sentra de base et fait l'objet, en simulation, du même cycle de conduite FTP-75.  Les résultats ont été ensuite comparés à la Sentra fonctionnant avec son moteur conventionnel. Les résultats les plus favorables ont été obtenus à l'aide d'une modélisation préliminaire du moteur SSC turbocompressé doté d'un cylindre de compression de taille réduite et configuré pour fonctionner en modes air-hybride.

« Ces résultats continuent à valider la capacité d'application réelle de notre concept de moteur », a déclaré Sal Scuderi, président de Scuderi Group.  « A chaque étape du développement et des essais de notre moteur, nous constatons des gains supplémentaires en termes d'économie de carburant.  Notre configuration à cycle divisé constitue le point de départ de futures avancées en matière de propulsion qui dépassent largement le concept de moteur conventionnel. »

London - The SAS Group, an international provider of managed and professional network services, today announced the completion of a project to upgrade the WAN infrastructure of the R&M Electrical Group, one of the UK's largest independent electrical distributors. Unfortunately, this had not been the company's recent experience.

"Most of our remote sites have business critical applications connecting to head office," said Mark Stone, group IT manager for R&M Electrical. "We were having days of sites not being able to process any transactions because the circuits were down and we couldn't get a response from our service provider."

As a long term user of BT's IP Clear network, Mark decided to contact BT for advice.

"Apart from the issues we were having with our service provider, we also wanted to introduce some new database applications which would need more bandwidth and class of service, so this was an opportunity to address both requirements at the same time," said Mark.

BT suggested an introduction to the SAS Group, a specialist in managed and professional services who could help R&M with the design, installation and support of its network.& helicop ter technology #13;

"I was sceptical at first, we had had our fair share of third party managed service providers," said Mark. "But once I'd met SAS, I felt reassured; SAS had all the answers I wanted and hearing the BT engineers say that SAS was superb was really enough."

To kick off the project, the SAS Group provided technical design authority for a new IP Clear MPLS network based on BT's 21CN technology and, together with R&M, designed a failover network using an existing LES circuit at the company's disaster recovery site. The SAS Group also provided a team of engineers for the installation and configuration of the Cisco routers terminating each circuit.

Since completing the installation of R&M's new network, the SAS Group has taken on responsibility for managing and supporting the infrastructure, including the provision of a single point of contact for any faults, MACs or billing issues on the company's network estate, and detailed performance stats for planning and development.

"We're really getting the proactive support we wanted now," said Mark. "SAS is monitoring our lines 24/7 so if one of our sites goes down at the weekend I'll get a phone call and I can take immediate action to correct it."

"With SAS and BT, we've got better support, better response times and a faster network –all at a lower cost," said Mark.

"Many companies have the knowledge and resource to support their networks in-house, but few can deliver a service comparable with an MSP because garbage compactor review they can't command the same level of influence over a carrier's 1086274749  behavior," said Charles Davis, CEO for the SAS Group. Recently released market study: Germany Metals Report Q2 2011

PRLog (Press Release) – May 07, 2011 – In 2010, German crude steel output grew 34.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 43.82mn tonnes, with hot-rolled steel output up 31.9% to 39.02mn tonnes. BMI estimates that finished steel consumption grew 32.4% yo- y to 35.90mn tonnes. The steel industry was operating at 84% capacity. Growth was generated by flat steel production, with demand fuelled by a growing automotive in trash bins dustry. In 2010, Germany's total passenger car output reached 5.55mn units, up 12% y-o-y, assisted by a 24% rise in exports to 4.24mn units.

The German steel industry started 2011 on a positive note, with stocks at end-users and distributors at a low to normal level relative to downstream activity. In the January-February period, the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl) reported that crude steel output reached 7.33mn tonnes, up 6.1% y-o-y. In January, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.15mn tonnes, up by 11.1% y-o-y, including 2.24mn tonnes of flat steel products (up 14.5% y-o-y) and 909,000 tonnes of long steel products (up 3.4% y-o-y).

BMI forecasts 3.8% growth in crude steel output to 45.50mn tonnes in 2011 and 3.9% growth in hotrolled production to 40.55mn tonnes, driven by higher output from carmakers, but steadily broadening out into other sectors. This is an upward revision from growth of 1.9% forecast in our previous quarterly report and is due to a brightening outlook. The underlying fundamentals are strong, with January 2011 witnessing a stronger than expected rise in German industrial orders with growth of 2.9% m-o-m, although this followed a decline of 3.6% m-o-m in December. BMI believes that with domestic demand for intermediate goods increasing sharply and eurozone demand for German goods on the up despite fiscal austerity, output levels will be sustained. Moreover, there is a stronger recovery in the domestic market with domestic industrial orders rising 4.5% in January and demand for intermediate goods jumping 5.8%.

On the downside, there is a high chance of interest rate rises in 2011 in order to reduce inflationary pressures in the eurozone and this could limit full-year growth. In terms of the long-term outlook, BMI shares WV Stahl's conce Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi rns about the EU's latest carbon emissions benchmark allowances, which threaten the competitiveness of European steelmakers at a time of surging energy and raw material prices. As steelmakers are already facing short-term pressures on margins due to the high costs of electricity and raw materials, the long-term disadvantage of the emissions trading scheme may be enough to prompt steelmakers to close some capacity. However, Germany has some significant advantages such as economies of scale, integration between crude steel and downstream processing units and a high level of technological sophistication and product diversification. In 2010, primary aluminium production grew 54.2% to just under 4 helicop ter technology 50,000 tonnes and aluminium packaging output, including foil, tubes, flexible packaging and aerosol and beverage cans, rose 13.6% y o-y to 405,100 tonnes. Export sales accounted for 70% of the turnover of German aluminium packaging production in 2011. BMI sees primary output growing 5.7% in 2011 to just under 475,500 tonnes, with long-term prospects set to be bolstered by the growing number of applications for aluminium as a lightweight substitute for steel. On the downside, high electricity and environmental costs are undermining the long-term viability of German smelters, with Norsk Hydro reportedly considering the closure of the country's largest primary aluminium producer. Consequently, primary aluminium output will reach around 605,000 tonnes in 2015, close to 2008 levels, while exports should reach 1.89mn tonnes. However, apparent aluminium consumption will surge to 3.35mn tonnes from an estimated 2.70mn tonnes in 2010. Most of this increase will be supplied by imports, which will rise to 3.29mn tonnes in 2015 in addition to domestic recycling.

Recently released market study: Brazil Mining Report Q2 2011

Despite the abundance of natural resources, total mining revenues currently comprise less than two percent of the country's GDP. However, we believe the industry is beginning to reach its full potential with a major public spending programme augmenting the ambitious expansion programmes of a number of locally-based mining firms including Vale, Rio Tinto and Angloamerican. the National Mining Plan, released in February 2011, aims to double output of key mineral groups including iron ore, gold and copper between 2010 and 2030 with $270bn invested by Brasilia in mining, research and processing over the period. Looking at more immediate developments, we forecast the value of Brazil's mining sector to reach US$90.7bn in 2015, up from US$44.8bn in 2010. An average annual growth of 8.5% is forecast between 2011 and 2015.

Iron Ore Production To Continue To Rise

Brazil's iron ore sector is poised to continue its recent expansion, which has seen the country consolidate its status as the second largest exporter in the world after Australia. Total production is forecast to reach 412mt (million tonnes) in 2011, an increase of 11.4% on volumes in 2010. Much of this growth is expected to have been derived from the expansion plans implemented by Vale, the world's largest iron ore miner, with output at the company's Carajas mine, which is situated in Para state, set to be expanded by 30mt to 130mt in 2011. Looking further ahead we forecast total iron ore output to increase by nearly 58% between 2010 and 2015 when it will reach 583mtpa. Average growth over our 2011-2015 forecast period is expected to be an impressive 9.7% year-on-year (y-o-y).

Regulatory Environment

A new Brazilian mining code seeking to eliminate speculation and force companies to develop projects faster was reportedly close to completion in March 2011, according to the country's Mines and Energy Minister Edison Lobao. The new code is expected to reduce the length of time companies have to complete explorations of mineral deposits in order to stop companies from buying deposits and selling them on after prices rise. The code will have a specific clause regulating uranium mining, which currently can only be mined by state-owned companies. The new code is not expected to discriminate against foreign ownership of mining assets, though it is expected to offer tax incentives to companies that are involved in domestic steel production, rather than producing ores for export and processing abroad.

A small number of large multinationals dominate the Brazilian metals and mining industry. However, we believe the industry is beginning to reach its full potential with a major public spending programme augmenting the ambitious expansion programmes of a number of locally-based mining firms including Vale, Rio Tinto and Angloamerican. the National Mining Plan, released in February 2011, aims to double output of key mineral groups including iron ore, gold and copper between 2010 and 2030 with $270bn invested by Brasilia in mining, research and processing over the period. Looking at more immediate developments, we forecast the value of Brazil's mining sector to reach US$90.7bn in 2015, up from US$44.8bn in 2010. An average annual growth of 8.5% is forecast between 2011 and 2015.

Iron Ore Production To Continue To Rise

Brazil's iron ore sector is poised to continue its recent expansion, which has seen the country consolidate its status as the second largest exporter in the world after Australia. Total production is forecast to reach 412mt (million tonnes) in 2011, an increase of 11.4% on volumes in 2010. Much of this growth is expected to have been derived from the expansion plans implemented by Vale, the world's largest iron ore miner, with output at the company's Carajas mine, which is situated in Para state, set to be expanded by 30mt to 130mt in 2011. Looking further ahead we forecast total iron ore output to increase by nearly 58% between 2010 and 2015 when it will reach 583mtpa. Average growth over our 2011-2015 forecast period is expected to be an impressive 9.7% year-on-year (y-o-y).

Regulatory Environment

A new Brazilian mining code seeking to eliminate speculation and force companies to develop projects faster was reportedly close to completion in March 2011, according to the country's Mines and Energy Minister Edison Lobao. The new code is expected to reduce the length of time companies have to complete explorations of mineral deposits in order to stop companies from buying deposits and selling them on after prices rise. The code will have a specific clause regulating uranium mining, which currently can only be mined by state-owned companies. The new code is not expected to discriminate against foreign ownership of mining assets, though it is expected to offer tax incentives to companies that are involved in domestic steel production, rather than producing ores for export and processing abroad.

A small number of large multinationals dominate the Brazilian metals and mining industry.
