University of Limerick Uses Xactware Claims Estimate Data to Evaluate Business Class

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 31, 2011 - LONDON and COUNTY LIMERICK, Ireland /Targetwire/ — Several academic journals have recently published articles discussing how the Business Studies programme at University of Limerick used Xactware claims data to evaluate 435 undergraduate students as they developed skills in insurance loss risk assessment.

For a 10-week period during fall semester 2009, the students participated in the Insurance Loss Market, a simulated prediction market where they learned to forecast likely future insurance losses, handle portfolios, and use diversification to manage risk. Estimate data provided by Xactware, a leader in claims management solutions for the property insurance industry, played a role in gauging student progress throughout the module. The results of the course were summarised in articles that have appeared in the April 2011 issue of Computers & Education and the December 2010 issue of Journal of Teaching in International Business. The article will also appear in Risk Management and Insurance Review manual trash compactor later this year.

"Often, the academic environment provides few opportunities to students where they can apply what they learn in the classroom to real-life scenarios," said John Garvey, a professor of applied economics who taught the course and co-authored the articles. "The data provided by Xactware accurately reports trends currently unfolding in the insurance industry so students can quickly see how they would perform in a realistic environment."

Each Monday morning, students were given 5,000 units of notional risk capital to invest in a portfolio of insurance rc helicopter market place losses. Using historical information — such as recent weather patterns, insurance hazards, and loss statistics — the students then predicted what insurance losses would occur over the week in New York, Florida, and California. At the market close each Friday, their forecasts were evaluated against real-time weekly loss estimate totals supplied by Xactware.

The estimate data provided to the Business Studies programme at University of Limerick came from XactAnalysis, the leading claims management network in the property insurance industry. Since its inception, XactAnalysis has helped property insurance professionals electronically send and receive claim assignments. Its real-time management reports provide managers with analytical tools to track individual claims, monitor company and industry trends, check company standards, and pinpoint areas for training. The network also contains inspection algorithms carriers can use to audit estimates and find potential errors.

More than 10,000 claim estimates are analysed on XactAnalysis each day. Xactware has processed more than 27 million claim estimates for a total value of nearly €125 billion.

"We're happy to provide access to our estimate data to University of Limerick students to help them develop these critical career skills," said KC Agrelius, Xactware's assistant vice-president, who is responsible for XactAnalysis. "The rea trash bins l-time claims data contained in XactAnalysis helps insurers know what is currently happening in the insurance ind Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi ustry so they are better able to make critical decisions regarding their risk management activities."

NVision Scanner Helps Reverse Engineer Key Impellor at Hydroelectric Plant

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 26, 2011 - Engineers from NVision, Inc., using the company's HandHeld Scanner, were able to quickly reverse engineer a large impellor for a major hydroelectric facility, sparing the facility what would have been manual trash compactor an extended shutdown had they needed to produce a replacement impellor from scratch. In less than one week, NVision scanned the original impellor and provided a computer model of it to the facility, which then used the model to manufacture a duplicate impellor for installation. In the end, only a relatively short shutdown was necessary to accommodate the scanning and reproduction of the impellor.

The turbines that move the water in hydroelectric plants employ massive impellors to get the job done. In this case, one of the facility's key impellors had suffered damage that forced the facility to replace it. However, the facility did not possess a computer model of the impellor, which was necessary in order to manufacture a replacement. Without a rc helicopter market place replacement available, the plant was facing an extended shutdown with potentially high losses in time and money. garbage compactor review p>

The facility's management contacted NVision to produce a computer model of the impellor. Two days after the initial contact, with a refurbished impellor temporarily in use as a replacement, an NVision engineer was on site to scan the impellor using the HandHeld laser scanner.

The HandHeld scanner is attached to a mechanical arm which moves about the object being scanned, freeing the user to capture data rapidly and with a high degree of resolution. An optional tripod provides complete portability in the field. Intuitive software allows full model editing, polygon reduction, and data output to all standard 3D packages.

"The HandHeld laser scanner was perfect for this project because its ability to move freely around a part makes it possible to reverse engineer components of virtually any size and shape," said Colin Ellis, Engineering Manager at NVision. "In this case, the spacing of the blades was large enough for the laser scanning head to fit through."

Scanning took eight hours, and included data from t trash bins hree locations situated throughout the part, with data being indexed into the same coordinate system using geometric features. After the data was collected and processed into an STL mesh, a SolidWorks model was created in two days. The facility received the completed model of the impellor just six working days after first calling NVision with their problem. The computer model was used to manufacture an exact duplicate of the original impellor.

"By using laser scanning to reverse engineer the impellor the facility was able to avoid a lengthy and costly shutdown," said Ellis. "As a side benefit of the scanning, we found that the impellor being used as a replacement was greatly out of balance, with no easy way of manually checking the part to see where the problem lay. Fortunately, using our inspection software, we were able to rotate and compare the data virtually, allowing precise indication of problem areas."

Asia Carbon Releases Shareholder Letter

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 24, 2011 - NEW YORK, NY, AUGUST 24, 2011) - Asia Carbon Industries, Inc. (OTCBB: ACRB)

Dear Shareholders:

I am pleased to report that Asia Carbon continues to perform well in 2011, maintaining the trends that were established in the 4th quarter of 2010, and we have seen material improvements in both revenue and income. Demand for our newest product, N220-W, has been strong and we expect this to continue as China's economic growth persists, particularly in the automotive and related sectors.

Annual car sales are expected to exceed 20 million units in China by 2015, according to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the demand for tires is expected to follow suit. China's Rubber Industry Association reports approximately 404 million tires were sold in 2010; with the demand for replacement tires at about twice the level of that for new vehicle tires. While China has become the world's largest producer of automobiles and tires, we believe the full potential of its vehicle market is yet to develop, and we hope to participate fully in this growth.

As we reported in our quarterly report on Form 10-Q filed with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission on August 12, 2011, Asia Carbon generated $26.94 million in revenues during the first six months of 2011, more than twice the $11.15 million for the first six months in 2010.  Net income for the six month period was $4.09 million in 2011 as compared to $695,196 during the same period of 2010.

I believe the Company's success is largely attributable to our dedicated management and staff, who remains focused on one thing: establishing Asia Carbon as a leading provider of high quality carbon black in China. Our commitment to quality and customer service continues to set us apart from competitors and makes Great Star brand one that our customers can rely on to help them manufacture superior products.  This will be increasingly important as China's automobile sales continue to surge, driving ongoing demand for new and replacem manual trash compactor ent tires.

To that end, we have prudently reinvested profits generated from operations to improve the quality and capacity of our production in an increasingly green facility, and we will continue augmenting our wet production capabilities organically and through acquisition.

I would also like to take this opportunity to reassure you that we remain committed to providing our shareholders and other market participants with the information and transparency expected from public companies. Asia Carbon became public through an S-1 Registration statement deemed effective by the SEC. There was no reverse merger, shell company, or other "back door" listing scenario.  Our financial statements are audited yearly and reviewed quarterly by Goldman Parks Kurland Mohidin, an independent member of the BDO Alliance.  Sichenzia Ross Friedman Ference LLP, our corporate counsel, while a U.S. based firm, has a strong garbage compactor review China practice group and has significant experience working with U.S. listed Chinese public companies.

Overall, we are strong, stable and strategically on course.  We are quite pleased to have been invited to participate in Rodman and Renshaw's prolific Global Investment Conference in New York City from September 10th – 12th.  A select group of our senior management team will be traveling to the U.S. to present Asia Carbon at the conference, and they will also be meeting with investors and other market participants in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas.  If you are interested in meeting with us in one of these cities, please contact Mark Lubchenco, our U.S. investor contact, and he will do his best to accommodate you. Mark can be reached at 646-328-1502

In the meantime, please feel free to contact me or Mr. Lubchenco if you have questions or would like more information regarding Asia Carbon.  Once again I thank you for your continued support and look forward to providing you with news of our progress going forward.
