Flamepack eases explosion proof upgrade of generator sets

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 03, 2011 - Explosion protection specialist Pyroban has developed a new concept for the explosion protection of generator sets or pumps used in brown and green field oil and gas installations.  Pyroban claims that the new Flamepack upgrade can be installed on to a generator in one month after thorough engineering, and reduces major costs to achieve ATEX 94/9/EC compliance.

Generator sets and pumps are widely used in oil and gas installations across the world and many are required to operate safely within potentially explosive atmospheres.  Without appropriate explosion protection, the prime mover can be the source of an ignition, a very real problem for many installations that operate without protection. Pyroban is well known for developing explosion proof kits for the build of new temporary well service equipment and has now made it easier to refurbish and upgrade existing fixed generator sets or pumps to full ATEX 94/9/EC explosion protection.

"The Gulf of Mexico accident has meant that oil and gas operating companies pay more attention to the generator set overspeed problem. But this is only half the issue, as exiting exhaust gas temperatures and surface temperatures must also be considered to avoid a false sense of security" says Rob Double, Business Development Manager from Pyroban's Oil and Gas Division.

Pyroban has recently launched the Flamepack system following a significant development programme, testing and field trials.  The Flamepack is p Kenmore Bisque 15 inchi redominantly a self-contained, open frame module that sits on top of the generator set container and connects to the diesel engine with limited intervention.  Depending on the engine size and type, the Flamepack spans the associated container width and length and sits approximately 1500mm - 1900mm tall.

Fitted locally, typically during planned maintenance activity to avoid operational downtime, the Flamepack has been developed to suit various brands including Cat trash bins erpillar, MTU, Volvo, and Cummins.  One of the first unit sales included a Caterpillar 3516 DITA, now in safe operation as an explosion proof generator in India. The Flamepack is specified according to the specific application and supplied and implemented by Pyroban in the UK with full global after sales service and technical support.

"The announcement of the Flamepack will be of particular interest to oil and gas operating companies that are concerned that their prime movers could be the source of ignit garbage compactor review ion, explosion and environmental disaster" Rob Double says.  "Generator sets are high value assets and it has not previously been commercially viable for the companies to upgrade or replace them.  The Flamepack concept now makes it possible." Canadian Firm Releases More Information About Magnets

PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 01, 2011 – Alnico magnets can be composed of many materials including copper, titanium, nickel, cobalt and a trash bins luminum. Alnico is a hard and brittle material that can sometimes be difficult to rework. It is manufactured in a number of shapes, including blocks, discs, rings, rods, cylinders and horseshoes. Alnico magnets have high residual inductions as well as relatively high energies, and are usually manufactured in one of two ways, casting or sintering.

Processes where molten metal alloy is poured into a mold and processed through various heat-treated cycles is known as the casting process. When two main materials are combined and then melted to the point where they stick together is known as sintering, a common process used when manufacturing magnets. When sintering alnico a fine alnico powder is usually compacted using a press. Alnico magnets provide many benefits.

In addition to being affordable and strong they can also resist extremely high temperatures and they are able to keep their magnetic qualities for a long period of time. When it comes to industrial and consumer applications alnico magnets are a great option..

Ceramic ferrite magnets which are sometimes referred to as either ceramic magnets, ferrite magnets or ceramic ferrite magnets are one of the most popular types of magnets produced. The popularity of these magnets is due to their affordability and longevity.

Ferrite magnets are classified as a permanent magnet because they can keep their magnetic qualities for long periods of time. Since they are manufactured at low costs they are ideal to be used for a number of different uses wither in your garage, shop, at work or at home. A chemical compound that contains iron oxide and ceramic is the major composition for a ceramic ferrite magnet. Sintering and pressing mixtures of magnetic powders and ceramic is how ferrite magnets are created. Ferrite magnets are hard and brittle. Sintering is a method that is used to make objects from powder.

Sintering is finished off by heating materials in a furnace until the particles of powder stick to each other, but don't melt..

Neodymium, a chemical element with the symbol Nd and atomic number 60 is used to create the neodymium magnet, a rare earth magnet. Neodymium easily tarnishes in the air and is a silvery, soft metal present in the ore minerals bastnasite and monazite.

Preferred for certain a manual trash compactor pplications, neodymium magnets are extremely strong and can perform in extreme conditions. If you require maximum energy then neodymium magnets are a great choice. Neodymium magnets are considerably stronger than ceramic ferrite or alnico magnets. Products that are made from neodymium have many advantageous features. Despite its strength, affordability and popularity neodymium does have a couple of drawbacks rc helicopter market place .

Unlike other rare earth magnets, such as samarium-cobalt, neodymium magnets have a low Curie temperature and as a result can't perform in high temperatures, which means that it could lose its magnetism in environments that are too hot. Neodymium is one of the few magnets that can perform very well in extremely cold temperatures. Neodymium is less durable and more prone to scratching than other rare earth magnets because it is less resistant to oxidation, which means that it must have treatments applied in order to protect it.

Neodymium can form cracks and easily corrodes because it is brittle, and as a result surface treatments of nickel, zinc, tin or gold are often applied as platings or coatings to protect the magnet. The problem of oxidation of neodymium magnets can be minim helicop ter technology ized by applying a plating or coating..

Magnetic strips that are flexible are used in many industries for a variety of purposes. Magnets use the force of magnetism to attract or pull an object towards or way from it. When the surfaces of the two objects touch, the magnet attaches itself to it. Whether you are in an industrial, commercial, marketing or retail field, you will find a number of uses for magnets.

Of all the types of magnets, flexible magnetic strips are the most dexterous. Flexible magnetic strips have a number of advertising purposes and can be used for labels, signage, point of sales displays and vehicle signs. Fridge magnets, printed magnets and planning boards all use flexible magnets. The refrigerator is the center of activity in your home which is why fridge magnets in particular are such a great advertising tool. With a fridge magnet, your customers never have to search for your contact information and can always be reminded of the service you offer..

Not surprisingly, block magnets are named for their rectangular block shape, although they do come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. Block magnets are affordable and versatile and generally tend to be the type of magnet that people will think of. Used in many different settings like industrial and educational environments block magnets have many uses including recreational, decorative and . Block magnets are very customizable and are surprisingly affordable and easy to customize for your specific need.

The majority of magnet manufactures carry many magnets in stock but you can ask them to make you what you need affordably and quickly if what you want isn't in stock. It doesn't take long or cost a lot of money to have a magnet manufacturer customize a magnet for you.

Sault Ste. Marie Machine Shop China Steel Adds Jet Edge Water Jet Cutting Machine

PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 01, 2011 – China Steel, a custom fabrication and machine shop in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, recently added a massive 90KSI Jet Edge waterjet cutting machine capable of cutting virtually any material up to 24'x13'.

With its 100hp 90KSI Jet Edge X-Stream powered system, China Steel (pronounced "keena") can cut parts up to 50% faster than waterjet shops with standard 60KSI waterjets. They also can cut large parts twice as fast with dual abrasivejet cutting heads with mirroring capabilities.

Established in the late 1950s, China Steel continues to be owned and operated by the China family, which traces its proud metalworking heritage to early 19th Century blacksmiths and metalworkers in Friuli, Italy. Under President Fred China and brother Vice President Carlo China's direction, China Steel has grown to become a diversified and technologically advanced metalworking plant with sales worldwide.

The multi-disciplined ISO 9001:2008-registered shop offers many metalworking services, including CNC and conventional machining, milling, turning, boring, bending, cutting, rolling, pipe processing, robotic welding and much more. It manufactures a wide range of custom products, including fabricated plate products, structural steel, decorative metalwork and machined parts. Its diverse projects have included everything from decorative staircases to locomotive underframes to dozens of parts for the U.S. Army Stryker armored vehicles to stainless steel dewatering wheels for steel mills in the Ukraine and India.

China Steel has always kept a sharp competitive edge by diversifying their products and services and by continually investing in the latest technology, explained Carlo China.

"In orde garbage compactor review r to stay in business, you have to be diversified and keep up with technology," Carlo noted. "If you don't keep up with technology, you might as well put a lock on the door."

It was the company's belief in diversification and technology that compelled them to purchase not just a waterjet system, but to invest in one of the largest and most powerful waterjets available.

"We were looking at lasers and plasmas, but the waterjet is more versatile," Carlo recalled. "It has higher precision and is capable of cutting thicker diverse materials, plus it's environmentally friendly and there's no heat distortion. You cut a part and it fits.  With Oxy, plasma and laser you are limited to what you can cut. Waterjet is open ended.

"We went with the 90,000 psi system because it gives us the cutting horsepower that we need, and we went with the large table because we have a diversified shop and many of the parts we cut are of significant size. One of the parts we cut is 22 feet. That's why we went with 24 feet. Our machine can also cut very small parts and that really impresses people when you can hold up a tiny part. They say, 'wow, you cut that on that big machine.'"

The Chinas decided to buy a Jet Edge after meeting the waterjet manufacturer's Elliott-Matsuura Canada representative Robert Miller, who they instantly took a liking to. Elliott-Matsuura Canada is Jet Edge's exclusive Canadian distributor.

"We looked at other manufacturers, but we really liked Robert Miller," Carlo said. "He's got a personality and he's very knowledgeable. He has owned a machine shop so we speak the same language." Only a week after installing their Jet Edge, China Steel was already busy processing parts and contemplating more and more diverse applications for their waterjet system.

"The waterjet opens up a whole new world for us because there are so many things you are able to do," Carlo noted. "You start thinking 'wow, we could do this or we could do that.'"
